The ‘superatoms’ are the cluster of atoms that share electron and mimic like the other element. It has been since 29 years, the discovery of these atoms by Walter Knight and colleagues at the University of California, Berkeley when they found the group of sodium atoms can share electrons among themselves. Now it has got the new breakthrough when they have been devised with the magnetic properties and it is very helpful in building novel nano-scale blocks with controlled magnetic properties to build faster computer processors and denser memory storage. The electrons from each atom collectively form the ‘supershell’ that coats like the cluster. It has been found that the superatoms of aluminum easily coats with other elements like noble gases helium or argon to form a cluster. This combination can help in create more efficient fuels because aluminum would release lots of energy when burned, thus it react with other elements too quickly to form solid fuel additive.
