There has been always a research in the area of biofuels as the demands are increasing but the productivity methods are not meeting its additional reqirements. Previously an attempt has been made on organisms such as yeasts and E. coli in order to produce microbes that assist in producing biofuels from toxic and waste materials. Now scientists came up with the alternative organism known as Rhodococcus opacus which is typically famous for the cause of tuberculosis has the ability to breakdown petroleum from waste products, where these microbes are originally isolated from the contaminated soil. Also R. opacus can produce a lipid type of sugar substance called tryaylglycerols which then can be easily converted into petroleum products through some sort of chemical reactions.
