The ultimate smart phone with pressure sensors

We have been always amazed about the features of smart phones like interface, entertainment and high speed mobile internet. But the innovative contender of this week, the Palm which took smart phones to the next level. Because despite the normal features this phone provides certain additive feature for its user like luscious full-color, multi-touch-sensitive screen, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi access, a camera, light sensors and an accelerometer. The phone that can detect the exact position of a person's fingers as it is built with pressure sensors, so the phone can switch function depending on your finger grip. For example flipping between camera, phone, music player or games controller is possible without pressing any buttons. Thus Palm pulls your different online calendars into one view, bringing you the information you want without having to search for it. With the activity cards Keep multiple applications open and move easily between them-email, maps, photos, websites and whatever you want.

Tongue driven wheel chair for spinal injury patients

The spinal cord injured patients has no way to move their hands or arms so they need alternative way to interact with the world. In fact in US itself nearly 3 lack people have injuries in their spinal card, hence in order to help those patients the electrical engineers of the university in Atlanta developed this tongue based system. This system helps the patient in controlling the wheel chair only with their tongue along with the headphone and a 5-millimetre-wide magnet attached to the tip of the user's tongue. The two sensors in the head phone will track the movements of the magnet and read the fluctuations in the strength of the magnetic field as the tongue moves. This will be transmitted as signals to the computer where the interpretation and action takes place. This system not only helps the user in moving wheel chair rather by moving the tongue in predefined patterns it is possible to control the cursor in the screen or switch on the TV and play video games.

Bright future of 4G

So far we came across the term 3G, because it is the latest wireless technology that is in use today in many parts of US as well in many other developed nations. The many analysis going on regarding 3G and its advancement of 4G and 5G between the group of scientists in IEEE communication society. The basic idea behind this 3G is to augment good old TDM voice with broadband data. So far the international association of wireless telecommunication industry CTIA estimates that only 80% of the penetration is possible as the data need to be the engine of growth if voice market saturated. But 4G will provide both voice and data together under IP umbrella hence extension around wireline to wireless is possible with IP. If we are potentially talking about the 5G we can have the maximum throughput of 100 Mbps or more but in case of 4G we can look up to 300Mbps without lose as LTE is going to be the 4G technology of choice.

New generation rockets

The NASA aims at replacing its old space shuttle by Ares I which is developed to carry an Orion crew capsule near the Earth orbit where as Ares V to carry a rocket and Lunar Lander. But in Ares I there are some technical difficulties found even though it has been developed for a decade by investing tens of billions of extra dollars. Therefore representatives of NASA have been asked the White House to recommend for a future space craft and mission options for them. From then the group of rebel NASA engineers as well as several aerospace companies pushing their own models and commercially built rockets. Even though all rockets have enough power to take a crew capsule to the international space station that resides in the low-Earth orbit, only a few can handle difficult and co-operative situations in their distant missions. NASA's current plan involves developing Ares I and its companion Ares V.

Laser Dazzlers at work

The US department of defense is working on their new Laser dazzler that will be used to stop the drivers without making any injuries to them. Previously the Green laser developed for this purpose has been sent to Iraq and Afghanistan US forces, but they are harmful at short ranges and guess what it leads to damage of eyes for no of US troops and civilians during their ‘friendly fire’ incidents. Therefore the US Department of Defense’s Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate is developing a pulsed laser uniquely designed to stop drivers without injuring the eyes even at short range. The wavelength of this laser in proportion to the light absorbed by vehicle windscreen thus it vaporize the outer layer of glass and produce plasma. This plasma will absorb the remaining pulse and reemits it as brilliant white light hence it won’t produce any harm to the eyes. Regardless of vehicles distance from laser, the light is emitted from windscreen therefore the effect on driver’s eye also will be same.

Ultimate Bluetooth devices

It has been since 11 years, the Bluetooth came into the market and till now it is topmost in sales ranging from government organizations to corporate industries even in the student primary education device such computers, laptops as a Wi-Fi device. Even now the no of devices are expanding in a rapid way as there is always a demand in such products. There are some innovations that we can expect in this year, because according to Blue tooth special interest group they are planning for some innovative ideas include low-energy version of Bluetooth and WI-Fi at speeds 10 times faster than the current speed of 3MB/sec. They have named this low energy version as Wi-Bree and it is expected to use one tenth the power of existing Bluetooth. It can be very useful in medical field because with WI-Bree as a medical device like heart rate monitor could run for several months or years.
